Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Reverse Mentoring

In 2021 we launched a pilot program that paired seven white leaders from CCSI's executive leadership team with employees of color as mentors to help leaders understand the employee experience from an alternative perspective and inform decision-making processes incorporating an anti-racist lens. After a year of launching the pilot, we have begun our second cohort with emerging leaders in CCSI as mentors and mentees to each other. In contrast, the original cohort remains as coaches for the incoming group.

CCSI Welcomes The Antiracist Curriculum Project to the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion!

Ms. James

The Antiracist Curriculum Project team has worked with students, educators, and community members in the co-creation, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional resources about Rochester's local history of racism and civil rights. These resources allow learners to explore and interpret their local history through rich primary sources, with the goal to cultivate more informed and engaged community members, to build a more just and equitable society. Watch this video to learn more.

Employee Engagement Survey

culture words

Each year we survey our employees to learn more about their experiences working at CCSI. In 2022, we had an impressive participation rate with 69% of our staff completing the survey. Areas where employees gave the most positive ratings were feeling well informed about important decisions, that different points of view are encouraged, and that CCSI does things efficiently and well. Areas for improvement included making meetings a good use of time, employees feeling like they are a part of something meaningful, and inclusion. We use these results to ensure we are focusing on the things that are most important to our workforce and to better understand what we can do to create a work environment that supports everyone in doing and feeling their best.

Taking Wellness@Work to the Next Level in 2022

As we continuously strive to prioritize mental health and organizational well-being at CCSI, our goal in 2022, was to provide a variety of wellness supports for our employees and their families. Some highlights include:

  • Streamlined Access to Mental Health Resources and Offerings Through Mental Health Front Door – Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is the first place to go for mental health support, including free counseling and other resources for employees and their families. Through our vendor partner integration, we provided employees with easy access to EAP and Excellus mental health services.
  • EAP and Mental Health Awareness Training – CCSI provided education to managers and employees to give them an overview of what EAP offers and helped them learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental illness.
  • Additional Paid Holiday – We added Juneteenth for a total of 11 paid holidays, in addition to our three floating holidays and one volunteer day.
  • Remaining Competitive in Our Contribution Offerings – In comparison to local, regional, and national benchmarking data, we continue to stay competitive with our contribution offerings for benefits such as retirement and Health Savings Accounts.
  • Free to Low-cost Medical Insurance Premiums – The cost of premium remains FREE for the $6,500/$13,000 High Deductible Health Plan for full-time earners making under $50,000 annually, with modest employee contribution for higher salary levels.
  • Launched a New and Improved BSwift Portal – Our Benefits Enrollment Portal was enhanced just in time for employees to complete Open Enrollment for 2023.
  • Employee Education Opportunities – Webinars and "Lunch & Learns" were provided on benefit education, BSwift Portal, Medicare preparation, and more.
