What does your team do?
My team helps leads the way in shaping the culture for CCSI. This takes on a lot of different shapes ranging from developing the anti-racist practices, to how we are involved in community initiatives, to ensuring we have a workplace where everyone can truly be themselves. We also work closely with customers where we have a large CCSI employee presence to make them aware of our internal efforts as well as with other contracted customers to help develop and implement their DEI strategic goals.
What’s a project you’re excited about?
I am equally excited about two things right now. The first is working directly with all of our teams throughout this year to help them better understand how they can do the work they do while living into our Anti-Racism Code of Practice. Secondly, I am really excited about helping to plan and carry out activities to celebrate CCSI’s 30 Year anniversary.
Where did you work before coming to CCSI?
Before coming to CCSI I began my DEI career at Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. This is where my love for the work I do was born, cultivated, and developed to higher levels. Immediately before coming to CCSI, I worked at Paychex for a short period of time. Moving from Excellus, where I had grown so much and really developed in my field was difficult but necessary. It was necessary because it helped me get out of the comfort zone and really grow as a leader in my field. I learned a lot about the type of leader I want to be, which fuels how I show up for the CCSI workforce every day.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren't doing this?
I would love to be a stand-up comedian. Not that I think I have the skills LOL, but because I love the comedians that talk about the funny side of everyday life. They are so relatable and help me to remember not to take everything so seriously. I want to be able to give that feeling to other people.
