James W. Maddison, Ed.D. is the Manager of the Office of Grants Development for CCSI. In this role, he provides project and grant application development assistance to internal CCSI stakeholders and as a consultant to external organizations. Jim has over 25 years of experience in all aspects of grants administration, including proposal development, grant writing, project management, and project evaluation. Jim has secured over $47MM in competitive grant funding for non-profit organizations, school districts, municipalities, and for-profit corporations. A key value informing this work is credibility, and the importance of credibility informing how projects are:

  • developed to achieve success impact;
  • proposed to funding partners;
  • budgeted in alignment with project expenses and sponsor guidelines;
  • managed to have an impact;
  • evaluated to inform continuous project improvement; and,
  • disseminated to achieve scalability and replicability.

Jim has a bachelor’s degree from Hartwick College, a master’s degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania, and a doctorate in education from the University of Rochester. Jim has founded two non-profit organizations, both of which are still in existence. One of these organizations is the Friends of the Roc City Skatepark, Inc., which successfully advocated for the construction of the first-ever public skatepark in the City of Rochester, New York (opened in 2020).
