JOB TITLE: Clinical Supervisor
SUPERVISOR: Director of Detox Services
JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Director of Detox Services, the Clinical Supervisor: supervises & provides clinical leadership to Detox Case Managers, Insurance Prior Authorization Specialist/utilization review and the administrative assistant. The Clinical Supervisor leads and shares ownership with the Director of Detox services and Intake Coordinator in managing the bed census. Additionally, the Clinical Supervisor may carry a small caseload to support their team, when needed, which may include providing and documenting in a contemporaneous fashion the related services of individual counseling, small group counseling education & training. Supervision functions include coordinating and providing guidance to the case management team for the individualized, multi-disciplinary treatment for patients. The Clinical Supervisor participates in program system for responding to crisis and/or mental health emergencies.
  • Responsible for the oversight and implementation of the care plan for the case management team.
  • Serves as Team liaison and provides clinical supervision to Counselors/Case Managers.
  • Scheduling for all supervisees.
  • Provides comprehensive integrated substance use disorder and mental health treatment services and clinical case management for patients of the detox services program, as needed, to support the case management team.
  • Provides motivational counseling, conducts group meetings, employs motivational interviewing, completes assessments, and coordinates substance use disorder education sessions.
  • Collaborates with detox staff in appropriate patient care, treatment planning and treatment referral. Must possess the ability to deal assertively and effectively with patient conflicts and conduct verbal de-escalation intervention.
  • This position will carry half of a caseload and complete behavioral health assessments, conduct educational classes and treatment groups, and provide individual, family and group counseling to adults and families experiencing mental health and/or chemical dependency problems, and provides services to incarcerated populations through the court/detention system. Has the ability to integrate mental health therapy into a primary substance use disorder treatment plan for persons with co-occurring mild and moderate mental disorders.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and set a positive example of behaviors for patients.
  • Serves as supervisor to Case Managers, Insurance Specialist and Administrative assistant.
  • Completes referrals for clients to receive specialized clinical treatment services  beyond the scope of practice of as needed and maintain collateral contact as appropriate.
  • Provides crisis prevention and intervention for clients and families, including participating in clinical on-call responsibilities.
  • Leads the treatment team process for assigned caseload.
  • Completes and maintains responsibility for progress/service delivery notes and all other required documentation and record keeping in a contemporaneous timeframe consistent with standards.
  • Maintains confidentiality and security for all client and staff related materials and/or records.
  • Exercises full compliance with the Agency’s Code of Conduct, all Agency policies and procedures and Federal and State laws and regulations.
Education: Master’s degree in a behavioral health field (psychology, counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy) from an accredited institution, NYS current/active LCSW preferred.  CASAC certification also a plus.
Experience: 3+ years of related experience working with those with behavioral health and substance abuse disorders. 1+ years of supervisory/managerial leadership experience in a certified SUD treatment program.

Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Self-motived, strong verbal and writing skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, flexible and adaptable. Valid NYS driver’s license. Must have flexibility, patience, and resiliency to deal with sudden crisis and deviation from work plans and schedules.
