We are currently hiring for a Family Crisis Support Specialist at our Rochester, NY location.
This is a full time (40 hour) position with hours being between Monday-Friday between 8am – 7:00pm. Flexible hours depending on family needs. Must be available for occasional weekends and On-Call rotation every 5-6 weeks.
Working from the Functional Behavioral Approach Model, the Family Crisis Support Specialist is responsible for engaging and working with children and families over a short-term period, to gain a new understanding of the child’s behavior, and to gather information and establish needs statements based on meeting with the family and the child. The Family Crisis Support Specialist is also responsible for connecting children and families to services in the community that will meet their needs longer term. Candidates must have a strong understanding of community services and must be able to engage with children and their families.
Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:
Works jointly with the parent advocate and the family to establish needs statements, in addition to the duration and frequency of service.
Assists in the identification of youth/family strengths, including methods to build and support identified strengths acknowledging the impact of trauma and stress.
Uses information gained through assessment and review to describe and gain an understanding of the child’s behavior, and shares information with the parents according to the Functional Behavioral Approach.
Completes records and tracks activities as required by funder, administrator, and mentor including satisfaction tools and other quality data.
Responsible for identifying child and family’s formal and informal supports.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related area of study, plus 1-3 years of experience working in the Human Services field is required. Candidates must have a valid NYS Driver’s License, and must be able to meet driving and insurance requirements.
