A Brief Job Description:

This position will work within a multi-disciplinary staff and report to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services. Additionally, this individual will serve as a resource for students seeking services related to Title IX concerns within Counseling and Psychological Services and oversee the afterhours support service program CARES, serving as the primary daytime CARES advocate, assisting students with Title IX reporting. Counseling and Psychological Services has a growing multicultural/international population on campus.

Responsibilities include:

Provide Urgent Care services to a culturally diverse undergraduate and graduate student population that includes risk assessment and solution-focused clinical intervention. Direct clinical service includes intake evaluations, mental health interventions, treatment follow-up, and appropriate referrals. Direct clinical service may include providing community referrals, working with student families and campus community members. Direct service may occur in the counseling center and in remote locations on campus

Conduct individual assessments for students seeking services related to Title IX concerns within
Counseling and Psychological Services. Support students who are looking for Title IX guidance during daytime hours

Complete and maintain clinical documentation (including, but not limited to, intake evaluations, clinical progress notes for individual, group, and crisis intervention sessions, psychiatric referrals, and suicide risk assessments) in a thorough and timely manner

Provide outreach and referrals to individuals who have reported Title IX complaints

Provide on-call crisis management response for the department and CARES team during daytime business hours

Oversee and lead recruitment, scheduling and meetings for the volunteer afterhours CARES team

Perform, as assigned, other administrative responsibilities associated with counseling and consultative services including, but not limited to, participating on Counseling Center and


Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work. Clinical licensure in New York or license eligible as a Mental Health Counselor or Clinical Social Worker; license is expected to be complete within one year

A minimum of five years clinical experience in a diverse clinical setting

Specialized Skills:

Experience providing consultation services, short-term individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and case management and consultation services with a range of clinical issues and pathology

Training and experience with individuals who are survivors of sexual and/or relationship violence

Training and experience with individuals who present with complex and severe psychopathology and experience providing treatment and consultation to this population

Demonstrated ability to organize and manage working teams

Demonstrated ability to handle complex, rapidly changing clinical situations (e.g. crisis situations, severe psychopathology, suicide and homicide assessment and intervention)

Demonstrated experience in providing culturally competent services to a diverse client population

Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals and to promote a positive work environment

Understanding of, and compliance with, the ethical and legal issues involved in the provision of clinical services


Both clinical and outreach experience working within a collegiate mental health setting

Familiarity with the Title IX process in higher education

Experience with gender identity and autism spectrum issues
