A Brief Job Description:

Under direction of the Department Director/Program Leadership, provides clinical treatment to families in which child sexual abuse is a primary identified trauma, utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities; maintains standards as defined by NASW Code of Ethics. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides Therapeutic Crisis Intervention services through office, home, school, and community-based visits as appropriate to engage family and meet their therapeutic needs.
    • Services include but are not limited to assessment of family dynamics and functioning.
    • Individual, couple, family, parent(s)/child(ren) counseling; non-offending parents, children, teen and adult survivors.
    • Serves as group leader to at least one client/parenting skills group annually.
    • Services are family focused and based on a Preventive and TF-CBT model of providing services.
  • Works collaboratively with The Bivona Child Advocacy Center, MCDHS case managers, law enforcement, legal providers, medical and educational service providers.
    • Attends and participates in inter-agency case planning conferences and required case conferences.
  • Meets regularly with Preventive Program Supervisor/Department Director to evaluate and implement professional growth in practice and performance.
    • Informs manager in a timely fashion about significant events related to client issues.
    • Participates in peer supervision sessions, ongoing staff trainings, and program development.
    • Initiates professional development through attendance at outside conferences where appropriate, reading and applying current, relevant literature, etc.
  • Completes required record documentation in accordance with Program Policies and Procedures.
    • Documents significant interventions in records.
    • Complies with MCDHS CONNECTIONS FASP Recording timeline requirements.
    • Compiles Program statistics, other relevant documentation, and assists in preparation of data for quarterly/yearly reports.
    • Documents progress notes in accordance with best practice standards as defined by The New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
  • Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings
  • Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.
  • Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse

Education: Masters Degree from an accredited School of social work required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. **

Credentials: MSW required. Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Experience: 2 years of graduate education or clinical experience in family systems therapy, along with 1 year clinical experience in child sexual abuse treatment preferred.
