CCSI provides training and implementation support on an increasing number of topics designed to help organizations understand, implement and sustain practices aimed at improving the way care is provided.   Our training team members have experience working directly in clinical or program settings, so they combine deep content knowledge in their particular areas of expertise with a solid appreciation for the challenges associated with learning and implementing new ways of delivering services in “real world” settings.  In addition, in partnership with our Quality Improvement Team, CCSI can also offer practical ways for organizations to assess the impact of their training investment on care quality and outcomes.  Our current training offerings are described briefly below.  Click on each topic for more information or click here to download a PDF list of our current offerings with descriptions.

Continuing Education
CCSI is an approved continuing education provider through the State Education Department and many of our trainings are CEU eligible for Licensed Masters Social Works (LMSWs) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) in New York State.  Additionally, we also offer CASAC credits for several of our trainings for those who are eligible.

Motivational Interviewing Training

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a style of person-centered counseling developed to facilitate change in health-related behaviors that is being used across an increasingly broad range of healthcare services – including care management and wellness initiatives. Specific training topics and upcoming training opportunities are highlighted on this page.

Trauma-Informed Care Training

There is growing awareness that trauma is pervasive and that the impact of trauma is often deep and life shaping.  A system or organization that is trauma informed has at its center the core principles of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment and understands that these principles need to be present for both the recipient of services as well as the staff.  This training will introduce participants to the essential elements of a trauma informed system of care and how that can understanding can be applied to the policies and practice that shape service delivery.

Me, My Tech, and I

In this this workshop, we’ll explore our relationship to our phones, and other technologies, in order to make more informed decisions about how they fit into our lives. Participants will learn some of the latest research on how tech impacts our thinking and even shapes our behavior. We’ll also practice strategies for minimizing our biggest struggles with tech: anxiety, distraction and multitasking, lowered metacognition, “fear of missing out” (FOMO), and compulsive checking.

From ACEs to Assets: Growing Resilience in Monroe County

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) have been shown to impact our health and wellbeing. By understanding the experiences of Monroe County youth, we can provide better support and intervention to reduce risk for health and behavior problems and foster resilience.

Consulting and Implementation Support for Education

When students and staff feel safe and secure, valued and respected, they thrive and achieve. Many students carry with them challenges that impact their success in school. Stressors like poverty, systemic racism, abuse and neglect, and other adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) negatively affect a student’s ability to learn and grow. The COVID-19 pandemic has been exacerbating these existing stressors and inequities, as well as creating additional new problems. For over 20 years, CCSI has worked to develop innovative ways to support schools in creating and implementing trauma-responsive, equity-focused environments.

TRUST | TRUST-S (Trauma Responsive Understanding Self-Assessment Tool)

TRUST (Trauma Responsive Understanding Self-Assessment Tool) is a strengths-based organizational self-assessment tool that provides organizations with a point in time “snapshot” of where they are in their journey towards becoming trauma-informed. The tool employs the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) 10 Implementation Domains as a framework for guiding survey participants through a sequence of questions to assess implementation of trauma-informed care practices within their organization. TRUST allows organizations to view aggregated survey results from their leadership and staff and display these results within a concise, real-time report along with recommendations for bolstering Trauma-Informed Care practice.  Click here to learn more and register.

Supporting Community Schools

A community school is a framework for connecting a school and other critical community resources so that the school becomes the hub of the neighborhood; a vital, community-based point of access for services tailored to meet child, parent, family and community needs. CCSI provides the lead agency support for the community school initiative at Enrico Fermi School #17 in Rochester, NY, and added School #33 in 2019. 

New York State Trauma Informed Network

With funding and support secured from the New York State Office of Mental Health, CCSI launched the New York State Trauma-Informed Network website: This virtual network helps individuals, caregivers, professionals and organizations connect with one another in order to enhance trauma-responsive practice change throughout New York. The site is dedicated to sharing quality resources, promoting events/training opportunities, and providing access to champions throughout the state engaged in these efforts. Supporting Whole Child Health in Early Childhood: A Scan of Early Care and Education Settings in Monroe County
